Drones for Landscape Applications: Rules, Challenges, and Case Uses in Hawaii

This session will cover a brief history of aircraft for agricultural operations and the evolution to remotely piloted aircraft; an overview of paths to certification as a commercial remote pilot and as an agricultural aerial operator, review some of the challenges for drone-based applications. You’ll also hear some Hawaii specific case examples of innovative uses of drones for conservation and landscape management.


Dr. Daniel Jenkins is an agricultural engineer with over 25 years of experience in research and product development, primarily focused on the areas of agricultural diagnostics, remote sensing, and detection and control of invasive species.
