Little Fire Ants: Detection, Prevention, and Management

Little Fire Ants (LFA) are among the world’s 100 worst invasive species, and landscapers play a critical role in detecting early infestations in order to control their spread. This session will cover how to identify LFA, implement prevention strategies, and apply best management practices.


Co-presenter

Melody Euaparadorn is the Outreach Specialist at the Hawaii Ant Lab (HAL), a program of the University of Hawaii. Her role is to bridge the gap between HAL’s research and practical application by educating homeowners, landscapers, farmers, and nursery professionals on best management practices for the prevention and control of invasive ants.

Co-presenter

Allison Miles is serving as an Outreach Technician at the Hawaii Ant Lab (HAL) on the Big Island. She received her Agriculture degree from UH Hilo in Crop Protection, and applied that knowledge as a C-27 design-build contractor and Qualified Applicator (QAL) with a focus on plant and soil health.
